Continued dialogue on tax

On March 13th 2014, Swedfund continued an ongoing stakeholder dialogue that began in the spring of 2013. Among other civil society organizations, representatives of Diakonia, Action Aid and Forum Syd participated in this latest meeting. The dialogue was chaired by Lars-Olle Larsson, Senior Manager of ESG issues at Swedfund.

Alvin Mosioma, Executive Director Tax Justice Network Africa, presented at the meeting the report: Africa Rising? Inequalities and the essential role of fair taxation. Niclas Düring, Portfolio Director Swedfund, also presented at the meeting how country-by-country reporting of portfolio companies’ tax is now presented in Swedfunds Integrated Report 2013.

“The demand for a global framework for corporate transparency and tackling tax avoidance is key to ensure that economic prosperity is shared in a fair and equitable manner. Swedfund has taken the first step and we hope that other DFIs will follow suit”, said Alvin Mosioma, Executive Director Tax Justice Network Africa.

“Swedfunds country-by-country reporting of tax is a concrete result of our valuable experience with civil society development organizations, a reporting which we hope can now set the trend for many other companies“, commented Lars-Olle Larsson, Senior Manager ESG issues at Swedfund.
