Swedfund shows development results

For the first time, Swedfund presents an integrated report that equates sustainability reporting with the financial statements and clearly describes the positive development outcomes as a result of Swedfund investments.

Development results:

  • Swedfund investments at the end of 2012 held a total of 104,390 direct jobs.
  • Swedfund portfolio companies and loan-financed portfolio companies reported aggregate tax amounted to 367.3 MSEK in 2102. 
  • The percentage of portfolio companies that had an environmental policy in 2013 was 76 %, which is an increase of 36 % from 2012 (49 %). 
  • The percentage of portfolio companies with an anti -corruption policy in 2013 was 60 %, which is an increase of 37 % from 2012 (38 %). 

As part of the new strategy adopted in 2013, Swedfund has increased its focus on sub-Saharan Africa, where extreme poverty is most widespread. Swedfunds expertise within ESG ( Environment, Social and Governance ) has also been significantly strengthened to ensure long-term sustainability , advocacy and positive development impact of investments.

In 2012 Swedfund investments held a total of more than 104 000 direct jobs which according to international models contributes to between 800,000 and 2.6 million jobs in the world’s poorest countries,” said Anna Ryott, MD of Swedfund.

This year’s integrated report also described four strategic sustainability goals adopted by the Board of Directors in 2013. The targets focus on impact on society, sustainability, financial viability and corruption.
